Giving Back

There's more to life than Airwave, and we try as best as we can to give back.

From 2019 to 2024, Airwave was an honoured partner of Chestnut Tree House — a children’s hospice care for young people with life-shortening conditions across Sussex and South East Hampshire. It’s the kind of organisation that doesn’t need much explaining. The work speaks for itself, and the people who do it are remarkable.

That partnership has now passed to St Peter & St James Hospice, who provide palliative care and support to patients and their families across mid-sussex. A different charity, but a similarly brilliant cause.

Hospices are chronically underfunded. Most receive a fraction of their running costs from government sources and depend on donations to make up the rest. We don’t think that’s widely understood — and we think it should be.

Each year, we organise a charity endurance event, inviting employees, partners, friends and family on a long distance walk.

The headline is the charity. But i’s also a great opportunity to get outside, exercise, meet new people, and recognise — there’s more to life than business.

12TH MAY 2023

Thames Path
Trek Two

On May 12th 2023, Airwave, partners and friends ventured 30-odd miles west, walking a 25-mile route along the River Thames, this time from Oxford City Centre, to Wallingford in Oxfordshire.

As always, it was a day full of laughter and smiling faces, however we also managed to raise £7,000 for Chestnut Tree House. A great day all round.

27TH MAY 2022

Thames Path
Trek

On May 20th 2022, Airwave’s charity endurance team walked 25-miles along the Thames Path, from Henley-on-Thames to Windsor, Surrey.

We’re delighted to report – the weather was nice!  Pleasantly mild, no rain and smiles all round. But most importantly, we managed to raise north of £6,000 for Chestnut Tree House! Congratulations to all involved.

18TH JUNE 2021

North Downs
Marathon

Meeting at Merstham railway station in Surrey, a team of walkers from Airwave and various partners, walked along the North Downs Way, finishing in Guildford. The route took on the veritably towering Box Hill, and various other hills on its way to Surrey’s county town.

As seems to be the tradition, the day’s main talking about was the weather. Not the usual heatwave this time, instead conditions that would have worried Noah and his ark….

However, all walkers were tenacious and positive, finishing the 25 miles with smiles on their faces, water in their boots and most importantly, raising well over £6,000 for Chestnut Tree House.

23RD AUGUST 2019

South Downs
Marathon

2019’s Chestnut Tree House charity event saw the Airwave team and partners (Samsung, Philips, LG, Sky and Wifirst) walk 30 miles from Eastbourne Pier to Brighton Pier across the hilly South Downs.

Once again, the temperature was akin to the surface of the sun and made life very difficult for the walkers.

29TH JUNE 2018

Three Peaks
Challenge

On Friday 29th June 2018,  21 members of the SCCI Group of companies completed the Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountain in England, Scotland and Wales.

Aiming to raise enough money to pay for a day’s operating costs at the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, we asked family, friends, partners and colleagues to sponsor our completion of what’s known to be a gruelling challenge, requiring supreme tenacity and determination.

Not only did we climb three mountains in record breaking temperatures, we raised over £8,000 for the hospice.  To find out more about our adventure, click here.
